“What if I already had an abortion?”

Did you know that about 44% of women in the United States have at least one abortion during their childbearing years? You are not alone.

Christian women, Catholic women, Jewish women, women who don’t attend a church—abortion is a choice made by women of all sizes, shapes, colors, and backgrounds. You are not alone.

Abortion brings with it long and short term consequences. Initially, you may have felt relieved after your abortion—when you made that choice, your pregnancy was the problem, and with the abortion, that problem went away.

However, associated with that choice were several risks:

• Physical risks like hemorrhage, perforation of the uterus, infection and more
• Behavioral risks like drug or alcohol abuse, trying to get pregnant again, promiscuity
• Psychological risks like nightmares, anxiety, guilt, grief, flashbacks
• Spiritual risks for those who later feel they’ve done something unforgivable
